Manuel Paulitsch x SAMINA
Manuel Paulitsch is currently the only professional surfer in the Austrian national team. Born in Koblach, Vorarlberg, far away from the sea and waves, that's quite an achievement. In this story, we tell the story of the professional surfer and why Manuel became interested in sleep early on in his career.
The dream of a lifestyle
During a visit to Vorarlberg, Manuel's uncle, an experienced surfer from New Zealand, showed him the vision of a lifestyle that would not let him go. Manuel was fascinated by the freedom of surfing, riding the waves on a board and spending the whole day on the water and in nature. At the age of 16, Manuel travelled to a surf camp in France with his first savings. He was in the water for six hours, with short breaks to eat and drink. When he caught a wave at full power for the first time, it was clear: he wanted to do this for the rest of his life!
One-way ticket to a new life
After his apprenticeship and military service, Manuel booked a one-way ticket to Portugal. "What do I have to do to be able to surf every day and make a living from it?" Manuel asked himself. The answer: become a surf instructor! Since then, Manuel has always lived by the sea. In Andalusia in winter, in Portugal in summer. Manuel first came into contact with the competitive side of surfing through a small, well-established team in the Canary Islands. In 2022, he won the Austrian national championship and qualified for the 2023 World Championships! The bar kept getting higher and Manuel realised that, in addition to his skills on the board, he also needed to optimise his recovery.
Regeneration is the key
As a professional surfer, you travel a lot and your sleeping place is often anything but ideal. Manuel felt that his sleep was in need of improvement and came across SAMINA. Anyone who is as closely connected to nature as surfing has its problems with synthetic materials - especially when it comes to sleeping areas. The neck muscles, which are put under a lot of strain when surfing, need an orthopaedic pillow. Grounding at night also has many advantages for physical and mental recovery.
The advantage: both products are perfect for travelling and can be taken anywhere.
