SAMINA is Medical and Health Partner of FC St.Gallen 1879
What began last year with equipping the relaxation room at kybunpark is now being expanded: SAMINA is the new "Medical and Health" partner of FC St.Gallen 1879. The Vorarlberg-based family business has entered into a partnership with FCSG until the end of the 2024/25 season. In addition to equipping the relaxation room, the football club is now also benefiting from SAMINA's expertise in the field of sleep. As a first step, the physiotherapists - under the direction of sleep psychologist and health expert Prof. Dr med. h.c. Günther W. Amann-Jennson - were trained as certified sleep coaches.
Statement from FC St.Gallen 1879
"I am very pleased about the cooperation with Samina, because from my work as a top athlete and later as a coach I know how important good sleep is for regeneration," says FCSG sports director Alain Sutter.
Günter W. Amann-Jennson, Managing Director SAMINA
"Our cooperation goes far beyond the usual sports sponsorship. Performance in football depends on holistic optimisation processes. And sleep plays a very important role here as the most important regeneration factor. This is precisely what coaches, players and support staff at FC St.Gallen 1879 should benefit from in future."
An investment in the players
Good sleep is a key factor in recovery and regeneration. This is especially true in top-class sport in order to maximise performance. FC St.Gallen 1879 attaches great importance to the topic of recovery and has an expert in this field at its side in Samina - with more than 35 years of experience in sleep research. The club's commitment is remarkable and a clear sign that FC St.Gallen 1879 takes the health of its players very seriously, even off the pitch.
Why is sleep so important in sport?
If you still want to perform at your best on the pitch when you're over 30, you need to prioritise your sleep. Restful sleep is so important because a large part of physical regeneration takes place in the deep sleep phases. During these phases, growth hormones are released, which are needed for tissue repair and cartilage mass build-up. The quality of this sleep phase makes the difference between performance and injury in the long term.
In the dream phases, also known as REM sleep, coordination processes and trained skills are consolidated. Too little sleep reduces physical and mental performance and it is no secret that both are needed to win on the pitch. In elite sport, milliseconds often make the difference between winning and losing and the speed at which we operate depends to a large extent on the previous night.
Healthy, Bioenergetic Sleep® is characterised by high sleep efficiency. This means as little waking time as possible and as much time as possible in the regenerative deep and dream sleep phases. The sleeping environment and hardware are important for the quality of your sleep. Our sleep experts in the SAMINA specialist shops will be happy to advise you on the right bed equipment and the optimum room climate for better performance in sport.
