Can I keep my old bed frame if I want to switch to a SAMINA sleep system?
The design of the SAMINA sleeping system is so uncomplicated and simple that it can be installed in almost any bed frame. The free-swinging slatted frame design means that no bed base is required and the SAMINA sleep system can be installed quickly and easily with the help of an installation set (support or functional slats with support foot for double beds). With the extra additional products, such as a seat elevation or a relaxation bridge, the SAMINA sleep system can be easily customised to individual requirements. Additional wedges, which serve to raise the head or feet by up to 4 cm, or by removing individual slats, additional special adjustments can be made. You can find out more about the optimum installation depth in the installation instructions.
I would like to install a SAMINA system in my 140 cm wide bed frame. Do you recommend one 140 cm or two 70 cm wide slatted frames?
If you mainly use the bed alone, we recommend a 140 cm wide slatted frame. If you use the bed as a double bed, two 70 cm wide slatted frames, as the adjustment must work separately for each sleeper. Depending on your body weight, the SAMINA slatted frame is available in 140 cm width with a choice of four or five elastic elements. Let the SAMINA Sleep Health Coach advise you in detail.
Can I also buy bed frames from SAMINA?
Yes, you can also purchase sleep-optimised bed frames made of solid wood with metal-free corner connectors in various designs and wood types from SAMINA. Our new ADRIANO bed frame is now also available in every shop and has the innovative Gravitas function integrated. Click here for the ADRIANO
We want to buy a SAMINA sleeping system for a double bed. Is it possible to get a full-length mattress? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a full-length mattress or topper?
The slatted frames should always be selected individually, as they adapt to the weight of the sleeper. Depending on the size and thickness, the natural rubber mattress can be selected individually or as a continuous mattress. For weight reasons, however, we recommend buying two individual natural rubber mattresses for ease of handling. On the other hand, both options can be selected for the SAMINA sheep's wool topper, depending on whether the "visitor's scratch" is desired or not. The transition between the mattresses is not noticeable with a continuous virgin sheep's wool topper and individual natural rubber mattresses.
How do I find the optimum bed length for me?
Ideally, the bed should always be 20 - 30 cm longer than the sleeper.
Up to what weight does the SAMINA system work?
In principle, SAMINA works completely independently of weight. From a body weight of approx. 100 kg, we recommend a slatted frame with an additional elasticated body (three elasticated bodies are standard). Depending on the distribution of body weight, the installation of a pair of hip supports can also provide appropriate support. This must be determined during a healthy sleep consultation. Slatted frames with a width of 140 cm are available with either four elastic elements (recommended up to a maximum of 80 kg) or five elastic elements (recommended from 80 kg body weight).
Why do I need support or functional strips for installation?
In order for the double-sided slatted base to rest freely and thus have an optimum effect, it requires lateral support options. The SAMINA support and functional slats with strongly rounded inner edges also prevent slipping. The use of self-adhesive felt strips on the support surfaces of the slats is recommended. When fitting in double beds, a height-adjustable support leg is also required. Please refer to the installation instructions provided.
Is it possible to change the degree of hardness of the slatted frame?
The degree of hardness of the slatted base can be increased by installing additional hip reinforcements or elastic elements. The hip reinforcer is fitted in the centre of the slatted base and has a length of 11 slats. By attaching two support elements only in the hip area, however, the degree of firmness is lower than that of an additional elastic element. Only one additional support body is required over the entire length of the slatted frame. One advantage of the hip reinforcement is that the hip area can be selectively reinforced, but the shoulder area can retain its degree of firmness. It is also the better solution in some cases, as only the hip area is made firmer and the shoulder region remains the same in terms of firmness (depending on the distribution of the body weight). In such cases, it is best to contact your local SAMINA consultant.
Can I make the slatted frame softer in the shoulder area only?
We recommend using the SAMINA "Pendere" shoulder cushion for this purpose. This shoulder cushion is also particularly suitable for tension in the shoulder and neck area. Side sleepers also benefit from it, as the textile zone in the shoulder area provides optimum relief and stabilisation for the shoulder girdle. The SAMINA shoulder pad can also be retrofitted. To do this, individual slats are removed and replaced with an interactive textile part and attached to the last two rows of slats using a simple but effective threading technique. Alternatively, it is also possible to remove every second of the lower slats in the shoulder area (approx. 3 slat pieces). To do this, count 8 slats from the head area downwards and then remove the 9th, 11th and 13th slat on the lower slatted grating side. This increases the sinking depth by 50 % and makes the SAMINA system softer at certain points in this area. You can also add an additional 2.5 cm thick mattress to the existing SAMINA natural rubber mattress with a thickness of 5 cm to create a 7.5 cm thick mattress that is softer overall (SAMINA natural rubber mattresses are available in 2.5 cm, 5 cm and 7.5 cm thicknesses).
Is it possible to customise my SAMINA sleep system to my individual needs?
The SAMINA slatted frame adapts individually to the shape and weight of the sleeper. By removing individual slats or using hip reinforcements, additional elasticated elements and/or shoulder pads, any body area can be adapted and positioned.
There are many different mattresses and bed types. What are the advantages of the SAMINA healthy sleep concept?
Many consumers are confused when it comes to choosing the right sleep system. At first glance, the similarities between the individual systems are often great - especially in direct comparison. However, a holistic view is crucial when making the right judgement. Sleep is a natural biological process that requires natural and biologically effective foundations. With the supplement "The 10 SAMINA advantages", we offer you a guide with the most important SAMINA advantages over all other sleep systems. Use this as a basis for comparing other sleep systems with SAMINA. This will give you the certainty that SAMINA is the competent provider for your sleep health. At the same time, you will know why over 150,000 SAMINA customers are so satisfied and why they enthusiastically recommend SAMINA to new customers every day.
Why should sleeping at an angle be healthy?
Inclined sleeping offers many advantages over the traditional horizontal sleeping position. We have utilised the experience gained from space travel. When we sleep in a horizontal position, we override the force of gravity. Sleeping at an angle has been proven to promote sleep and health. What may seem strange at first glance is, however, based on decades of well-founded space research. It has been shown that the complete inclination of the bed leads to improved regeneration, provides more vitality and energy and also has a preventive effect against snoring - especially obstructive sleep apnoea. The symptoms of restless legs syndrome are also alleviated by sleeping in an inclined position, as are reflux problems and heartburn. The inclined position of the body also has a positive effect on circulation and blood pressure regulation and supports the heart. The secret behind the revolutionary sleeping concept lies in gravity. As soon as you sleep in a horizontal position, the forces of gravity are neutralised. You are in a zero-gravity field. In this position, the head is above the heart, which means that blood is pumped into the brain against the force of gravity. This results in a reduction in the pressure of the blood flow. In a flat lying position, the blood flows into the brain without resistance, which results in increased intracranial pressure and can in turn lead to a variety of health problems.
Can I prevent house dust mites with SAMINA Sleep Healthy products?
The organic, bio-active virgin sheep's wool used in the manufacture of SAMINA products ensures a dry and harmonious bed climate and thus deprives house dust mites of a potential breeding ground. House dust mites prefer a warm and moist bed climate. A major advantage of natural virgin sheep's wool is its extraordinary ability to absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and quickly release it again via the room climate. However, this only works to the desired extent if the virgin sheep's wool is chemically untreated. Organic, untreated virgin sheep's wool therefore naturally counteracts house dust mites, but must not be washed. Please follow the care instructions on the product labels.
Why should I avoid synthetic pillow fillings?
As unhygienic as this fact may be, the highest concentration of house dust mites is found in synthetically filled pillows. Warmth, moisture and lots of skin flakes provide ideal living and feeding conditions for the unwanted mites. In addition, humans excrete 250 - 400 ml of water through their breath every night. With an average lifespan of 6 weeks, mites account for approx. 10% (around 500,000 mites) of the total weight of a pillow with a synthetic filling if it is not washed for a year. SAMINA offers the ideal pillow for everyone with a large selection of pillows and also prevents the accumulation of mites with proper care (regular fluffing and ventilation) thanks to the virgin sheep's wool covers. House dust allergy sufferers are more limited in their choice of materials, but do not have to forego a natural and healthy sleep by using appropriate anti-mite covers. House dust allergy sufferers should generally ensure a good and harmonious room climate. 40 - 50 % humidity is ideal, especially for human mucous membranes. However, microorganisms have the least chance of growing at these values. Also ensure that the air is exchanged regularly. It is also advisable to change the bed linen more often than normal and to air and shake the bedding frequently. It is also advisable to avoid fixed carpets in the bedroom.
Can I sleep on SAMINA despite a wool allergy?
A genuine virgin sheep's wool allergy is very rare. People often react to the chemical additives in the textiles such as bleaching, washing baring agents, synthetic refatting agents, optical brighteners or dyes. Substances such as herbicides, pesticides, fungicides or Eulan (chemical moth repellent) are also frequently found in bedding. Sensitive people in particular often react to these chemically aggressive ingredients. However, most people mistakenly assume that they are allergic to sheep's wool. That is why we at SAMINA only use 100% natural materials that are neither chemically treated nor mixed with other synthetic ingredients. SAMINA stands for 100 % pure nature. With original SAMINA products, you can be sure that you are sleeping on a completely natural product. And if you are still unsure, we recommend that you have a possible allergy tested by a doctor. This way you can actually rule out the possibility that you suffer from a wool allergy (protein fibre) or lanolin allergy (wool fat). This will make your search for healthy bedding easier.

How do I clean my SAMINA Sleep System and the SAMINA Sleep Healthy products?
Always shake the SAMINA bedding slightly in the morning so that the remaining moisture can escape. Dry, cold but sunny winter days and humid summer days are ideal for hanging SAMINA blankets, pillows and pure new wool toppers outside in a sheltered place for several hours. The wool will then smell fresh and clean again. Mild sunlight is good for the wool all year round. In the case of SAMINA cushions with a natural rubber core, this should be removed beforehand. Sunlight damages the natural rubber and makes it brittle. Unfortunately, some pillow types do not allow the pillow core to be removed. Therefore, please avoid direct sunlight. You should also avoid dry cleaning, as this would destroy the high quality of the virgin sheep's wool. SAMINA pays strict attention to ensuring that the processing is free of harmful substances and that no additional chemical agents are added. In the course of dry cleaning, the use of chemical products cannot be ruled out. Should your SAMINA product nevertheless become heavily soiled, the soiled area can be spot-cleaned with mild soap or organic wool detergent and cool water. If completely immersed in water, a small shrinkage cannot be ruled out. Allow the sheep's wool blanket to dry well after washing. We generally recommend using protective covers made of cotton fabric in addition to the SAMINA bed linen. These offer additional protection and can be washed at up to 60°C.
What is the best way to care for the SAMINA slatted frame and the SAMINA natural rubber mattress?
We recommend that you turn the SAMINA slatted frame 4-6 times a year in order to wear down the slats made of robust ash wood on the same side. This will ensure that your SAMINA sleeping system lasts for many years. The SAMINA natural rubber mattress should also be aired and turned at regular intervals. Make sure that the natural rubber mattress is not exposed to direct sunlight. Ask your local SAMINA Sleep Health Advisor for helpful tips on how to turn the slatted frame, for example.
What is the best way to cover the SAMINA sleep system and what bed linen do you recommend?
Preferably use bed linen made from natural materials. Tip: It is best to stretch the sheet over the slatted frame completely or at least in the corners. This makes the layered sleeping system more compact.
Why is the Lokosana® earthing support connected to the socket? Does it need electricity?
The Lokosana® earthing support is de-energised. It is only connected to the socket because of the earthing conductor. Earthing is always present, even in the event of a power failure or when using a mains isolator.
Is earthing also possible WITHOUT a socket? If so, how?
The socket outlet normally offers the best earthing quality. Water pipes and radiators should also have a zero potential, i.e. a good earthing quality. You will need a special earthing clamp for this, which is attached to a bare point. If you do not want to earth via the socket, your electrician can install a separate earthing socket for you.
