Sleep is a travel trend
Only wellness was yesterday! More and more people are looking for rest, sleep and relaxation on holiday instead of adventure. Sleep tourism is booming. More and more accommodation providers are adapting to this trend and offering service and optimum facilities for healthy sleep and deep relaxation.
Holidays for regeneration
Coming home from holiday exhausted is a thing of the past. More and more holidaymakers want to regenerate while travelling and relax both physically and mentally. A good night's sleep is at the forefront of this. A full 14 per cent of Germans plan to book a wellness stay with a sleep programme in 2023. [1]
Even more popular were stays on the subject of stress management (41 per cent), nature experiences (28 per cent) and innovative offers such as cryotherapy (24 per cent). [2]
Sleep is a global trend
According to a study by the Medical University of Vienna, 8 per cent of people in Austria suffer from pathological insomnia. In Germany, 25 per cent of respondents rate their sleep quality as poor to very poor. [3] In the USA, 36 per cent describe their nights as not restful. [4] So we are seeing this trend not only here, but worldwide. This trend is finding its way into the hotel industry and is manifesting itself as "sleep tourism".
The wellness area alone is no longer enough
For a long time, the wellness area was the number one advertisement for hotels, but that alone is no longer enough. This is because 80 per cent of people in Germany alone already suffer from inadequate sleep quality. [5] This deficit should be compensated for on holiday and the most beautiful pool and the most modern sauna can only make a small contribution to the quality of regeneration. After all, more than 90% of physical and mental recovery takes place during sleep!
Pillow menu as an additional offer
One of the most popular offers for a good night's sleep in hotels is the pillow menu. Similar to a menu in a restaurant, guests can choose a pillow that is individually customised for them. In the POWER SLEEPING ROOM® concept from SAMINA, a pillow menu is standard, because every body and every neck has different orthopaedic needs. Good sleep starts at the head!
SAMINA POWER SLEEPING ROOMS®
We call the highest form of nocturnal regeneration Bioenergetic Sleep®. Here, all sleep-biological, orthopaedic, bed-climatic and electro-biological requirements for an optimal sleeping experience are guaranteed. SAMINA Hotels use this concept as added value for the guest, placing sleep at the centre of the stay and thus following the trend of "sleep tourism" - or setting new standards and clearly setting themselves apart. This is how good sleep succeeds in hotels!
