Elias Nussbaumer x SAMINA
Elias Nussbaumer from Lochau on Lake Constance is a runner (800 metres) and student at the University of Teacher Education in St. Gallen. He started athletics at primary school. Initially still playing in all disciplines, he quickly found out where his strengths lay and thus came to middle-distance running. In this story, we tell you what it means to Elias to be a runner and how he came to SAMINA.
The beginnings
Elias comes from a very sporty family. His mother was a national karate champion and his younger brother David (17) was junior world karate champion. Thanks to this supportive environment, Elias found his passion - running - at an early age.
"We all push ourselves together and are there for each other," says Elias, describing the cohesion within the family and with his running mates. "I've made a lot of friends through running, such as the German European marathon champion and top runner Richard Ringer, for whom I even ended up being best man. Runners and athletes in general get on quickly and know what the other person is talking about.
A personal highlight for Elias Nussbaumer was meeting running superstar Eliud Kipchoge during training in Kenya, "an amazing experience".
Running is beautiful and brutal at the same time
Elias describes running as a beautiful, but also brutal sport. You not only compare yourself to others, but also to the clock or your own best time. "Sometimes it goes by itself and sometimes you try everything and it doesn't work. That's just part of it," says Elias. Then he just has to keep working and stay focussed.
"When things are going well, everyone is there to congratulate you. If things don't go so well, you realise who is really there for you."
Regeneration as a success factor
With so much training, regeneration is crucial for Elias and he says he is very grateful for the professional support he receives at SAMINA. Elias describes it like this: "The team is great, both personally and professionally, and everyone is always there for each other. The regeneration equipment is first-class and I always look forward to my visits to the cold chamber or SAMINA Charge. You feel like new afterwards and prevent injuries.
Elias is full of motivation for the coming season and is ready to go full throttle. We are looking forward to his successes and wish "our" likeable athlete all the best for the season!
